Bamboo plants are among the world’s most useful and versatile plant. Unlike trees, bamboo grows at an astonishing rate of up to 2 inches per hour. This makes it the world’s fastest growing plant. In some cases, the bamboo plant can grow up to 4 meters in a day.

Despite common belief, bamboo plants are not trees. In fact, they are evergreen grasses. These grasses fall into 91 unique genera, with over 1,000 species currently known. As each species can be used for different things, this variety helps to ensure the lasting survival of this plant.

This fast growing rate makes bamboo plants invaluable in eastern regions such as India, China and Japan. As the bamboo plants can be used as food, wood and fuel, the fast growing rate makes this renewable resource a cornerstone of those societies. As bamboo, when properly treated, can be extremely durable and long lasting, it provides an easy solution to many problems.

One of the well known uses of bamboo plants is their cultivation as building materials. In construction, bamboo can create large, secure scaffoldings, provide a base wood over slower growing trees, and provide decorative value to both the interior and exterior of buildings. Other uses of bamboo wood include tools such as durable cutting boards, chop sticks, tables and other pieces of furniture as well as components in popular games such as go.

When bamboo plants are just sprouting, the shoots can be eaten from many different varieties. However, not all types of bamboo shoots should be consumed. For example, several species like the giant bamboo contains cyanide within the shoots. Cyanide can be toxic to people. Many types of animals thrive by eating bamboo. Most notably is the panda, which only eats bamboo stalks and leaves.

Although bamboo serves quite a few purposes in society, bamboo plants do not come without faults. The bamboo plant, for reasons yet proven by science, tend to have mass flowering and fruiting seasons. This is most notable in the Bay of Bengal, where the bamboo plants bloom once every 30 to 35 years. This mass blooming and fruiting cases severe consequences to human populations nearby. As the fruit falls to the ground, rats swarm. As the rats swarm, they bring disease with them and cause famine. This can lead to many human deaths, as there is little that can be done to stop the fruiting once it has begun. As the bamboo populations require the fruiting season for survival, they cannot be simply destroyed to prevent the rat swarms.

Bamboo is a hardy plant and can thrive in many areas across the globe. They are most commonly located in East Asia, although they can thrive in sub-Saharan Africa, North and South America. Bamboo does not survive in Europe, North Africa, western Asia, Canada and Antarctica.

Get the Right Tools for Your Next Knitting Project

Knitting is an art from using yarn or thread to create various pieces of cloth ranging from sweaters and blankets to gloves and socks. With the use of loops and stitches strung between two needles, the cloth takes shape both by hand and by machine. Different products demand various types of needles and fibre.

Yarn and needles are the only absolute fundamentals of kitting. Many options are available when it comes to choosing a pair of knitting needles. For starters, you may have straight, circular needles, double-pointed, or cable needles. Straight needles are perhaps the most common type of knitting needles and will be used for a majority of basic kitting projects.

There are several things to consider when using knitting needles as well. You will have a variety of different diameters to choose from, and you will want to select the size of the knitting needle based on how small or large you wish your stitches to be. Tin needles will make a compact stitch while wider needles produce larger loops.

You will find that knitting needles are generally made out of four common materials, those being metal, wood, plastic, and bamboo. The wood and bamboo needles are rougher, therefore offering more traction and ensuring you are less likely to drop stitches. Plastic needles are not often very sturdy and probably should not be the first choice. Metal needles are smooth and great for quick knitting as the yarn will not catch.

Straight needles are most often used for flat knitting such as blankets or scarves. They produce straight, even rows. Circular knitting needles, long and flexible with a double point, are used for flat or circular knitting. Straight double-pointed needles are also used for circular knitting but used to achieve a smaller tube such as for a collar or sock.

There are a few accessories which will make one’s life easier as they begin knitting. It is a good idea to have a case to keep your knitting needles together and intact. There you may also store something known as a needle gauge which will help you determine the size of each knitting needle.

Are you looking for some concise and useful techniques so you can find a cure for panic attacks? Read on my friend and you can do just that.

You need to realize that what is going on at the time is without a doubt a panic attack and you’re not going to die from a heart attack. Just doing that will help you more than you’d think. At the onset of a panic attack, make sure to remind yourself this is just a panic attack, you are not going to die, it will eventually pass.

A basic breathing exercise can be used very effectively as a cure for panic attacks. An easy tool to use is to focus all of your concentration on your breathing and count while you are doing this. You can count to 10 and then start all over.

Another cure for panic attacks you can use is to watch your wristwatch or a clock with a second hand. Watch the sweeping hand and tell yourself, if you are not dead or going totally insane, once one minute passes you will be all right. What you need to do is put all of your attention on the second hand of the clock watching its every movement and not think about anything else. When a minute has passed, do it all over again.

Go for 2 minutes to keep you from thinking of anything but the symptoms of the panic attack. Symptoms like your hands going numb, the feeling that you can’t breathe, the thought that you are having a heart attack, the fear. By focusing on the 2nd hand you will actually distract yourself from the bad thoughts.

All of the feelings you are experiencing while doing this will still be there. You absolutely must stay focused with everything in you on that second hand. Repeat the process until the panic attack passes, and it will pass. If you keep on telling yourself this is just a panic attack and that you aren’t going to die will help alot too.

Say things like I’ve been here before and I know what is going on. It’s just my mind playing tricks on me, I will be all right. Find whatever you can to keep distracting yourself from the situation until the attack dies down.

If you let the affliction consume you, you will be making the whole terrible experience that much worse. You must get out of that place and take your concentration off of your symptoms and put it on a cure for panic attacks.

By thinking about the affliction and the fear that goes along with an all out panic attack you only reinforce its power. Use the techniques offered here and it will pass on its own. It is a storm you will have to ride out and you can do that by focusing on anything but the symptoms. It may not seem like it but it will eventually pass. Continually remind yourself that you are experiencing a panic attack and that you are not in harms way. It’s just your mind playing tricks on you. You will make it through this.
